From one child to another
This blog is to help me find homes for children like my younger brother and sisters who we couldnt imagine not being in our family. So many children are alone. We can help raise money for their grant funds so they can find a family.

Down syndrome
This 5 year old cutie is Sammy. He has Down syndrome which has resulted in his development being just a bit behind his peers, but he is doing just fine. He loves to play with toys and listen to music….he will sing along when he is happy. When he meets someone for the first time he is initially shy, but quickly warms up and before long he considers them good friends. He had surgery last summer for an abdominal teratoma; no complications following surgery and no follow up treatment is necessary according to the surgeon. This sweet little boy will be such a blessing for one special family.

She ages out July 2014.
Jojo was abandoned at the age of 22 months. She has strong self-managing ability. Jojo can handle her own basic daily needs. She can also wash the dishes, wash simple clothes, and can fold the quilts in the morning, She is a dutiful child and she always keeps something delicious for her mum, letting her mum taste firstly and then shares with her brothers and sisters. In the simulated family group, she respects parents and gets along well with brothers and sisters. Jojo studies hard, unites classmates, and is a good student.
From her camp volunteer:
Jo Jo lights up the whole world when she smiles and her giggle makes you laugh with her. She is not at the development of her 13 year old peers she needs nurturing and patience. It would be a long road however a worthy one to have this beautiful girl part of your life. She has dreams for the future and wants to become a nurse and I hope who ever adopts this kind, caring girl will help her do that. After 13 years of not knowing love this little girl feels it and needs someone to make her safe and loved.

Low Vision
Robbie is a bundle of fun! He loves to jump, play, talk and sing and he really likes being silly. He is learning how to do a lot of self help skills for the first time, such as changing his shoes, putting on clothes and he practices fine motor skills with lots of different activities and objects. He is very sweet and he loves attention. Robbie is in a primary school class with other children who have low vision. Robbie receives services from an organization that provides high quality care and education for orphans who are blind or have low vision. His teachers fell that Robbie could easily go to a mainstream school and learn with sighted children. He is waiting for a family that he can be silly with and who will help him continue his great progress.

Blind
Erich is blind and participates in a program that provides high quality care and education for orphans who are blind or visually impaired. Every child has an individual education plan and the goal is to allow them to be independent and live life to the fullest. Erich came from a large orphanage that didn’t have any special programs for blind children. He had class with the other children his age, even though he is completely blind. Erich has a very technical and logical mind. He loves maths and science, and when he first came he learned Braille from scratch in just one week! He took to it very quickly. He loves knowing how things work, and for his 12th birthday, he got to visit an elevator factory and he loved listening to the engineers telling him how they worked. He used to have one leg longer than the other, but a recent X-ray showed that his legs are the same size! He can walk well but could do with some more physical therapy. In spite of all this, he has now run twice in a (mini) marathon and he often goes to the park to run 3-5km. Erich’s favorite food is tomatoes and his favorite subject is braille. When he grows up he wants to be an engineer! When asked what he would like to tell the world about himself he said “God lives in my heart!”

Blind
Gabe participates in a program that provides high quality care and education for orphans who are blind or visually impaired. Gabe was only 18 months when he first arrived and he was terrified. He didn’t want to leave his ayi, and would cry whenever she put him on the floor. He didn’t smile a single time his first week. He didn’t speak at all, but would only cry if he wanted something. He enjoyed playing by himself with a few toys, but didn’t care to interact with the other children. He also didn’t want to walk. He has had both eyes removed due to Retinoblastoma, but he is cancer free now! He has two prosthetic eyes. After a short time, Gabe began to get used to his new environment. He started smiling all the time and began to enjoy exploring his new home. At first he walked incorrectly, but with the patient help of his ayis, he can now walk and run normally. He quickly learned that adults liked it when he showed affection, so he started hugging everyone all the time. Gabe has learned to talk, get his own water, eat by himself, and other self help skills. He is a fast learner and did so well in his last class that he moved up to be with the older kids. He has lots of energy and is learning how to sit still without fidgeting during his lessons. He has been using a cane to walk with and he walks very confidently – he has excellent skills in orientation and mobility. It has been amazing to see Gabe learn and grow. He is an amazing boy!
